Hi Professor,

I was wondering for assignment 2 is there any requirement of the specific models being used? For instance, should we use KNN for all three questions or is it fine to include only in 1 or 2?

You are free to utilize any or multiple methods that we covered in the class (i.e., regressions, logistic regressions, KNN). As mentioned in the class again, using more methods doesn't necessarily mean a high score.

Are ROC and AUC the only metrics that help us determine how well the model differentiates between classes based on various thresholds? Are there other metrics that would be preferential in certain scenarios?

ivyas Considering varying thresholds, ROC and AUC are the most widely used one and it's the only one that we covered in the class. There are some other metrics in this line, but those are less frequently used and also provide a similar information. Thus, no need to find/utilize additonal metrics.

Other general metrics (not considering varying thresholds) that we covered in the class are accuracy and confusion matrix.
